Try The Walks

In this section I have tried to simplify the process of accessing some lovely walks for you to try out. Simply select the area and length of walk from the drop down menu to see a selection of walks in that category.

All the walks have been mapped out using the Outdoor Active GPS walking application following known trails and paths. You can actually download the routes as GPX file for using with alternative GPS applications or simply open the routes using Outdoor Active and get walking straight away.

If you would like try Outdoor Active on your phone there are several options. There is a free version however with this you must be connected to the internet to get updates and directions while using the app. The limitations of the FREE version therefore are that if you're in the middle of the moors or up a mountain in the Lake District where there is no phone signal you will very likely end up getting lost.

The paid Pro version of the app allows you to download and save the map and route onto your phone before you start your walk so even if there is no phone signal on your walk you will be kept on track while you walk as long as you have sufficient phone battery.

You can get a 1 month free trial of the Pro version but after that you would need to pay £2.23 per month to continue using as a Pro user.
